1st Day of School

It's the first day of school! The girls got up and were ready for school by 7:00am. They couldn't wait to get there. Elizabeth is starting 4th grade and Abby is starting 2nd! I can't believe how fast they are growing up. As I dropped the girls off at school this morning I asked them if they would like me to walk them to their lines. They both said no that they were BIG girls and didn't need me to walk them. Tears filled my eyes as I said goodby and drove away. I'm going to miss those two...what oh what will I fill my day with now?

Back To School Night

Last night was BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!! The girls were SO excited to meet their new teachers and to see everyone they know! Except once we got there they would hide behind me and wouldn't hardly say a word to anyone even kids they know already! Kids would say hi to them in the halls and they would hardly acknowledge them! I was filling out some paper work for them in the computer lab and Elizabeth really wanted to go the the lunch room to see about being in school orchestra. So I told her go and I will catch up, but she just looked and me and said, "Mom you are the one that will do the talking!" Yes I've been designated by my girls to be the talker in the family, apparently we can only have one! At least I know they snap out of it after they warm up to the school, at least Elizabeth does we are still working with Abby! We met each of their teachers and saw their classrooms and I didn't sign up to be head room mom again this year so Josh is happy!  I think that we are really ready for school to start now.

Flip Flop Gymnastics!

The girls had their end of summer gymnastics big flip flop classic! Elizabeth didn't want to do it, but Abby did so Abs and I went down on Saturday to the flip flop classic. I watched her for just about 2 hours doing all of her flips and flops on everything from the floor to the beam. She did amazing. She got 2 blue ribbons, 1 red ribbon, and 1 white ribbon. Her blues (1st place) were in Vault and Beam, her red (2nd place) was in Floor, and her white (3rd place) was in Bars! She was SO beyond excited about getting 2 BLUE RIBBONS!!! I am so proud of her!! Here are a few pictures of her during the different events....you can see that she starts off a bit shy but she gets into it by the end!

Deacon's Birthday

Cory was out of town this last week so we had her kids and one of the days just happened to be Deacon's Birthday. So my mom went and got him a cake and we had a little party for him. I had all of these great intentions to decorate and make a big deal that day and nope didn't do either! But Deacon was such a good sport and was just happy with a cake and a couple of gifts.  The kids had fun together playing all day and swimming, so it wasn't like we didn't do anything!
Happy Birthday Deacon!

It's About Time!

Elizabeth LOVES animals and just about every day asks for some animal to bring home and have. And she doesn't just stop at the normal house hold animals....she has asked for a giraffe, zebra, pretty much everything you find at a zoo! I am NOT an animal lover and feel that it is hard enough to own kids and to throw one more thing I would have to remember to feed isn't for me! But Elizabeth talked us into fish. She saved up her money and paid for EVERYTHING. The first five may have died but this last one has been alive now for a while and I don't know how, the kid NEVER remembers to feed the poor fish. And guess who has had to clean out its bowl....yes me. So the other day I felt that it was time Elizabeth start taking more responsibility for this animal that she claims to LOVE! I made her clean the bowl! She was so excited, I made her do EVERYTHING and just sat and watched her. She didn't like the stinky smell of the old water but she did it and yes this is NOW her job and I just have to say it is about time too!!

Lessons From My 9 Year Old!

Last night I was in my room with my girls getting ready to take them up to bed. Josh has been out of town since Monday and I told them that he will be home tomorrow! Elizabeth looks around my room and with all seriousness she says, "Mom, you really need to clean your room before dad gets home. He should come home to a nice clean house!!!" I just look at her then look around my mess of a room and said, "You do know that most of the stuff on the floor is yours, right?" It didn't seem to accrue to her that she might be contributing to some of the mess too.....My next thought was WOW my Dad just came out of your mouth kid!....so now I know what I'm doing today before Josh gets home, I'm cleaning! Because even Elizabeth can tell you a good wife never lets her man come home to a dirty house!!

Are You A Snuggler?

The other day we had the boys come over to watch one of the Harry Potters with the girls. Before we went down stairs the kids had a VERY SERIOUS AND VERY LENGTHY DISCUSSION on whether or not they were snugglers! The conversation went something like this......
Abby to Deacon, "Are you a snuggler?"
Deacon, "Oh I'm a snuggler! I like to snuggle"
Abby, "Good cause I need to snuggle when I'm scared!"
Deacon, "We can snuggle together!"
Conrad to Elizabeth, "Then we can snuggle together"
Elizabeth, "Oh good cause I like to snuggle too!"
This went on for a while then Abby yelled to me... "Mom, I don't need to snuggle with you Deacon is going to snuggle with me when I'm scared!"
Yep I can get replaced just that easy!! The whole conversation made me laugh so hard. I just wish that I recorded it!
